Ok, I admit it. I’m a little more vested in the River Rock Cafe than most… after all this website is very important to Kim and Janeen and myself. BUT! Aside from that, the first time I stepped into the River Rock Cafe, I was cheerfully lead to a booth where I sat down and immediately noticed the quality atmosphere.
The table I was sitting at caught my attention right away. I thought it was made of some sort of high quality Corian designed to imitate a big slab of granite with lovely green and brown hues. Boy was I wrong! Kim and Janeen filled me in on the story behind these gorgeous tables which are made from genuine Salmon River rock. Kim and Janeen had the slabs cut and polished and VOILA! Real Idaho River Rock – Hey I get it, “River Rock Cafe”!
In addition to the river rock tables, soft color combinations on the walls, tasteful fixtures, framed art and wall pieces, and other decorative touches really added to the stylish atmosphere and I felt very comfortable with the appearance of a neat, tidy and clean dining area. Now for the food!
It was mid afternoon when I arrived and I’m not a big eater, but nonetheless I was hungry enough for something to sample so I figured I’d try a small bowl of soup. My cheerful and very pleasant server brought a hearty bowl of soup – the scent of which made me ravenous to try it. Brimming full of small chunks of beef in a fragrant well seasoned broth, I was encouraged to see an ample number of penne pasta and some other little slices of red pepper. The soup was perfectly seasoned and tasted like homemade soup that I might prepare right in my own kitchen. Then, to make it even better, a warm, garlicy and not perfectly buttered hunk of soft bread (aptly described as a baguette) was added to the side, which I made use of by dunking in the broth and really hunkering down in the flavor of the soup/bread combo. MMMMMM! It was just delicious and truly tantalized my taste buds! What a great value in price, taste and atmosphere!
If you’re planning a trip that takes you through Riggins Idaho, don’t miss the River Rock Cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You AND your tastebuds will be so happy you did.
